Wydad Signs Africa-Sized Striker to Power the Attack

New Africa-Rooted Signing to Boost Wydad's Forward Line

Morocco's Wydad Casablanca has sealed a fresh deal to strengthen its attack, hours after announcing the arrival of defender Ayman Al-Wafi from Lugano.

According to Koora sources, the club completed the signing of a Central African striker, Louis Dedass Mafouta, 32, who features for the French side Janjon.

Mafouta appeared in 19 matches this season for Janjon across Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France, scoring seven goals.

The deal signals Wydad's intent to return to domestic titles after three barren seasons.

Mafouta becomes the 51st player signed under president Hicham Ait Mana, who has led the club for about a year and a half.

Once the deal is completed, Wydad will need to release two foreign players to register the new arrivals.

Inside the club, officials are tipped to offload Dutch defender Bart and Botswanan forward Tomisong Oriboni to make space.

If football is chess, Mafouta just checked the king and the defense forgot its bishops.

Let’s see if his goals come as reliably as a fan’s memes—unexpected, but welcome.
