Zamalek Defender Halts Renewal Without a Go-For-International Clause
3 December 2025
Key details of the renewal talks
Islam Abdel-Majid, the agent of Hossam Abdel-Majid, Zamalek's defender, revealed details about the player's contract and renewal talks with the club, confirming the deal runs through 2027.
In televised remarks today, the agent said negotiations have yielded no decisive results yet, noting a core condition Abdel-Majid wants included in his new contract: acceptance of a move abroad.
He added that Abdel-Majid earns one and a half million pounds per season, and that he has not contacted any club official to ask for a raise, as rumored.
He explained: 'The renewal file was opened twice. The first time was with Ahmed Hossam Mido and Hazem Imam, who were told of his demands; they said they would renew according to Zamalek, but he insisted on a clause allowing departure if a foreign offer arrives.'
The second time was in a call with John Edward, the sporting director, two months ago, where the player clearly told him he would not sit down unless what was agreed upon is met, and there has been no further contact since.
Abdel-Majid's agent stressed the importance of the written contract, saying: 'When I signed with Zamalek, the club must honor what was agreed, not oral understandings.'
The agent wrapped up: 'I hope Hossam Abdel-Majid leaves through the big door and returns the same way.'
Punchline 1: If contract clauses were goals, he’d be top scorer.
Punchline 2: Negotiations this dramatic, even VAR would request subtitles.
