Gharib Ends a 660-Day Goal Drought
Abdulrahman Gharib, a forward for Al Nassr, ended a drought of about 660 days with a goal against Damak in the ROSHN Saudi Pro League.
The goal opened Al Nassr's scoring in a midweek 17th-round match at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Stadium in Abha.
It was the 28-year-old's second goal of the season, coming in the second consecutive match after he netted the winner against Al Shabab in the previous round.
This was the first time Gharib had scored in back-to-back ROSHN matches in 659 days, dating back to April 2, 2024.
On that date, he also scored in an 8-0 win over Abha in Round 26, three days after a 5-1 victory over Al Taee in Round 25.
The quirk of fate: his goal against Abha came at the same stadium where he had previously produced a milestone against Damak.
The match was part of the ROSHN Saudi Pro League, and Gharib’s late strike underscored his sharp timing as Al Nassr chase consistency down the stretch.
Punchlines: If droughts were players, this one finally got subbed in. And the ball knew Abha’s clock, arriving right on time for the goal.
