What Afsha's loan means for both clubs
Egypt's Al Ahly announced on Tuesday that midfielder Mohamed Magdy Afsha will join Al Ittihad Alexandria on loan until the end of the season.
The club announced in an official release that Afsha trained with the squad on Tuesday evening at Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium before bidding farewell to the coach Jes Thorup and the players.
Afsha posted on Instagram a farewell message to Al Ahly fans before heading to the Union club.
Afsha wrote: The journey had wonderful moments we shared together—league titles, the CAF Champions League, and the Club World Cup... some chances were missed, others changed history once converted into goals.
He added: I’ve lived a life loved by the greatest fans; I’ll miss you all, but this goodbye is only temporary.
Afsha had agreed to extend his contract with Al Ahly for another season before departing on loan to the Union.
Al Ittihad Alexandria also announced several additions to bolster the squad: Khaled Abdel Fattah on loan from Ceramica Cleopatra; Abdel Rahman Gowda on loan from Pyramids; Mahmoud Abdel-Aty Donga on a permanent deal; and Yousry Wahid on loan from Al Ahly.
