Al Ahly boss eyes Africa Cup
Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the club's chairman, traveled to Morocco to attend several Africa Cup of Nations matches scheduled there and running through January this year.
Kooora had word that Al-Khatib received an invitation from Fouzi Lekjaa, head of the Moroccan federation, to attend opening ceremonies and key fixtures.
A club official told Kooora that Al-Khatib asked to delay his departure due to a board meeting held yesterday, during which several football and sports operations matters were settled and the agenda included transfer strategy.
The source added that Al-Khatib traveled today on the invitation and planned to attend several games, starting with Egypt versus South Africa in the second match day of the group stage of the tournament round.
He may head directly to France or the UAE for additional medical checks before resuming club duties soon.
Punchline: If travel were a sport, he’d be world champion by now.
Punchline 2: Morocco stamps his passport as much as his calendar stamps fixtures.
