Talks with Diang advance ahead of Nations Cup

Al Ahly's officials held a meeting with Mali midfielder Aliou Diang in recent hours, before his departure to join his national team for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which kicks off on December 21.

Diang's contract with Al Ahly runs through the current season’s end, a KOOORA source said, with officials meeting Diang in the agent’s presence.

The source explained that a renewal offer for three seasons was presented, worth 1.3 million dollars per year, plus an advertising component not yet agreed.

The offer would see Al Ahly's football arm market the player commercially, even on TV; however, no annual figure was set, a detail the player sought to know.

Diang did not reject the offer but requested extra terms, which Al Ahly are studying; a decision will be relayed through his agent in the coming hours to finalize.
