First half
Ahly started with intent to pierce a resilient Ismailia defense, as Mohammed Ali Ben Ramadan sent a precise cross that Ashraf Ben Sharqi converted, but the assistant referee flagged offside in the fourth minute.
A shot from Mohamed Shreef hit the crossbar after a clever run, and a subsequent cross from Ben Ramadan was cleared by the Ismailia backline, with the attack missing the finish.
Ahly finally broke through in the 17th minute when Kouka converted a well-delivered cross to make it 1-0, and a second goal by Yassin Mer’i followed in the 38th minute via a headed finish after another French-like cross from the flanks. A late strike for the half by Ismailia was cleared, leaving the score at 2-0 at the break.
Second half
At the restart, Ahly introduced Ahmed Ramadan “Beckham” in place of Yasser Ibrahim as the team sought to press the advantage, with Ismailia reshuffling the front line by bringing on Mohamed Shika, Mohamed Ounajem and Essam Al-Fayoumi.
The third goal came in the 50th minute as Mohamed Shreef found the net from a Zizo cross to make it 3-0.
Ismailia rallied briefly with Ounajem pulling one back in the 57th minute, followed by Essam Al-Fayoumi’s strike in the 68th minute to give the visitors a glimmer of hope.
Ahly responded quickly, and Ashraf Ben Sharqi added a fourth in the 68th minute from a set-piece, restoring a comfortable cushion. The hosts then made late substitutions, withdrew Zizo and Mohamed Shreef to consolidate the win, and the match finished with a convincing 4-2 scoreline for Ahly.
Ceramica Cleopatra vs Haras El Hodood
In the same round, Ceramica Cleopatra beat Haras El Hodood 3-0 at the Haras El Hodood venue. Marwan Othman opened the scoring in the 34th minute, followed by Fakhr Lakay’s stoppage-time goal (45+5) and Sidiq Ejigola’s strike in the 48th minute to seal the victory.
Ceramica Cleopatra rose to 17 points, placing themselves in the top four, while Haras El Hodood dropped to 11 points in 15th place.
Punchline time, sniper-style: If football had a battery, Al Ahly would be charging forward while the whistle acts as their power bank. And if the league were a field report, Ismailia Electricity would be the kind of team you’d call to troubleshoot a blackout—just don’t expect them to light up the scoreboard.
