Al Ahly weighs Jordanian firepower after injury reshuffles the frontline
Jordanian duo on Al Ahly's radar.
Egyptian TV host Ahmed Shobier revealed on Monday that Al Ahly is considering signing a Jordanian player in the near future to bolster its attack.
Al Ahly has dropped plans to sign Jordanian international striker Yazan Al-Naimat after the serious knee injury he suffered with his national team in the Arab Cup, a cruciate ligament tear.
Shobier said on his radio show that Al Ahly is monitoring a new attacking duo from Jordan to bolster the frontline in the winter transfer window.
He added: After Naimat's injury, Al Ahly may sign a forward from Jordan; the name currently circulating is Ali Alwan, a very good player; some have even suggested bringing back Fakhouri, a young player nicknamed the Jordan Messi, who previously played for youth national teams and for Al Hussein Irbid, and has recorded very strong numbers.
Shobier explained: Fakhouri is good, but he would play as a left winger, whereas Ali Alwan is a pure center forward.
He continued: Ali Alwan was born in 2000 and has a career across Jordanian clubs including Hussein Irbid, and international experience with the national team, with a reported market value of 450k euros and 61 international caps.
He added: Al Ahly has not negotiated with Ali Alwan yet, but he is among the names under consideration by the club's agents and the scouting committee to bolster the attack.
He continued: Youssef Belhamri, the left-back for Raja Casablanca, is close to joining Al Ahly, and there is a possibility of departures of two Al Ahly forwards in the winter window if offers come in or if the club secures other forwards.
Punchline 1: If this transfer saga were a sniper joke, the punchline would be a goal in the 90th minute—boom, there it is.
Punchline 2: If they sign the Jordanian forward nicknamed the Jordan Messi, the headlines will be sharper than his dribbles and the popcorn stands will finally get a sequel.
