After the Super Cup Triumph: Four Key Moves for Al Ahly
The Al Ahly first-team delegation returned to Cairo on Monday afternoon after clinching the Egyptian Super Cup against their traditional rivals, Zamalek, today.
Ahly sealed Egyptian Super Cup in United Arab Emirates, their consecutive win and 16th overall, after a 2-0 victory over Zamalek in the final at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, with goals from Ashraf Ben Sharqi and Marwan Atiya.
The Reds' delegation moved from Abu Dhabi to Dubai on Monday morning, aiming to depart for Cairo according to the pre-set travel plan.
According to Kooora sources, players linked to Egypt squad did not rejoin delegation at Dubai airport.
Meanwhile Egyptian national team enters a closed camp in Al Ain during the international break, preparing for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
Sources say Mohamed El Shennawy, Mustafa Shobier, Mohamed Hani, Marwan Atiya, Ahmed Zizou, Taher Mohammed Taher will join national teams, while Aliou Dieng, Ashraf Ben Sharqi, Gradiščar, and Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan will join sides.
Bonus for the squad
The club administration awarded a bonus to the first team after Super Cup triumph.
Torup meeting postponed
The club's football management agreed to postpone the meeting with Danish coach Jes Torup to discuss winter transfers to the following week, allowing him a short break in Denmark before resuming in Cairo.
Rest period
The technical staff granted five days of rest after the triumph, which took place yesterday in the UAE.
Trezeguet back to Cairo
The Ahly delegation sent Trezeguet back to Cairo, excluding him from the national team camp today.
An Al Ahly source told Kooora that Trezeguet underwent a medical check in a clinic in Abu Dhabi early Monday morning, which confirmed a hamstring strain.
Additionally, a source said Walid Salah Al-Din asked Ahmed GabAllah to send the scans to the national team doctor and inform him of Trezeguet’s condition, which means he cannot join the Pharaohs' current camp in the UAE during the international window.
The 156th title in Al Ahly’s long trophy haul.
The club’s overall tally now stands at 156 titles across domestic, Arab, African, and global competitions.
The club has won the CAF Champions League 12 times, Africa Confederations 4 times, the Confederation Cup once, and the African Super 8 times, among many others.
And so on: Additional details about various trophies may be included; but the key is that Al Ahly remains a dominant force with a growing trophy cabinet.
Punchline #1: If ambition were a sniper rifle, Al Ahly just hit the bullseye—quietly, efficiently, and with a big grin on the boss’s face.
Punchline #2: The only thing sharper than their passes might be their post-win bonus plan—knock, knock, goal, who’s there? Al Ahly, delivering trophies and a few light chuckles along the way.
