Mandatory vaccination: Walid Salah El-Din, the club's football director, says the medical staff vaccinated all players and staff against hepatitis A in coordination with a leading company to keep the team healthy and ready.
Ashour is set to return to group training soon, but the medical team will not clear him until full recovery; meanwhile all players are vaccinated as a precaution.
The club doctor said a new medical test would be conducted within 48 hours to gauge recovery and plan rehabilitation.
The red team held a closed camp in the latest session at Mokhtar El-Tetch training ground, before entering a closed camp the night before the match, with captain Mohamed El Shennawy rejoining after dealing with fatigue and a cold.
Karim Fouad and Ahmed Sayed Zizo returned to training after muscle soreness, though Zizo missed the previous match.
Captain Ashraf Dari will undergo further scans to determine return date; he has a groin tear, while Mohamed Sharrif has begun running rehabilitation.
Hussein Shahat needs at least five weeks before rejoining full training, as scans show improvement but more time is needed.
The Ahly management decided to travel to the UAE on November 4 for the Egyptian Super Cup, which will run from November 6 to 9. Al Ahly face Ceramica Cleopatra on November 6 in the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, while Zamalek face Pyramids in Abu Dhabi on the same day. The winners meet in the final on November 9 at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi; the losers play for third place at the same venue.
A source told Kooora that Saeed Abdel-Hafiz will head the delegation in the UAE, awaiting his formal election to the board on Friday’s vote.
Urgent CAF complaint: Al Ahly filed a complaint with CAF against Senegalese referee Issa Cisse who officiated the Cairo return leg against Eagles Nuar in the CAF Champions League round of 32. They cited several erroneous decisions, notably a red card for Nets Gradychar. The complaint also argued that the rival's player who assaulted Ahmed Ramadan Beckham was not sent off, resulting in Al Ahly playing more than 75 minutes with a man down. The club asked that Gradychar's suspension not be implemented, arguing that the referee's decision was not grounded in reality and that justice and the success of continental competitions depend on fair play.
Punchline 1: If the referee’s whistle were a sniper’s rifle, the said decisions would be memorable—but only on a blooper reel. Punchline 2: Don't worry, I hear the punchlines land with the precision of a well-timed whistle; aim, laugh, repeat.
