Deal on the Horizon

A few steps separate the leader from radical change.

The ownership saga of Al Hilal has taken a new turn amid the buzz around Karim Benzema's move to the club.

Al Hilal completed the Benzema deal for free in the winter window's final hours on Monday night, continuing a string of high-profile signings linked largely to one man: Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal.

In this regard, Saudi journalist Ahmed Al-Ajlani said via X that billionaire Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal is closing in on a deal to acquire Al Hilal, after a delay.

Al-Ajlani explained that the deal intended as a full takeover in December was delayed, and the two options on the table are:

A takeover of the club, or a stake of up to 70%.

He stressed the final decision rests with the club's owners: the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

He concluded: "The official announcement is very close".

Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, the club's member, has been one of the team's biggest benefactors, having funded major deals and supported the squad financially.

Reports indicated negotiations between Prince Al-Waleed and the Public Investment Fund, which holds a majority stake in the club, have continued for about a year, and the deal could be worth $400 million.
