Barça Nears Locking In Garcia: Renewal Talks Heat Up Amid Injury Storm

Renewal Progress
Barcelona are moving steadily in talks to renew the contract of defender Eric Garcia.
An agreement to renew Garcia’s contract is expected to be reached in the coming weeks, according to RAC1.
The report says both sides are already in agreement to renew the contract until 2030, with only a few minor details left before an official announcement.
The Spanish defender has become a key part of coach Hans Flick’s plans, after playing a pivotal role in achieving last season's domestic treble, featuring in 45 games, scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists, including important strikes against Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
In this season, the 24-year-old has played 10 of 13 matches, showing great versatility by playing center-back and full-back, making him one of Flick’s most trusted players in the starting XI.
Injury Woes and Midfield Reconfiguration
Fifteen injuries have hit Barca this season, the latest being Pedri, the driving force in coach Hans Flick’s plans, whose absence in the coming weeks leaves the Catalan side without a key midfield pillar, and most importantly, Frenkie de Jong will be without his best midfield partner.
The Catalan club announced in an official statement last Wednesday that Pedri suffered a hamstring injury, and would miss Elche in Round Eleven after receiving a red card in the Clasico.
Pedri’s absence affects not only Barca's starting lineup but also the balance of the midfield on both technical and tactical levels.
Coach Hans Flick misses the efforts of midfield duo Pedri and Gavi, but has alternatives with three midfielders in the squad, namely Frenkie de Jong, the young trio Marc Casado and Marc Bernal, and three attacking players such as Fermin Lopez and Dani Olmo who is close to returning after injury, as well as the promising Dru Fernandez, and Flick will have to decide who among them takes the decisive role in Barca's midfield.
The paper concludes that Pedri’s injury will put Flick to a new test of Barca's resilience and the coach's ability to reinvent his midfield, with Frenkie emerging as a key figure amid a sea of absences and tactical tweaks to maintain balance and rhythm.
