Barça Women Dominate Real Madrid in the Queen's Cup Clash
Barcelona crushed Real Madrid in the Women’s Clásico with a 4-0 win today, in the Copa de la Reina quarterfinals.
The Catalan side imposed control throughout the match, progressing to the semifinals with four goals scored by Alexia Putellas (21'), Eva Baños (67', 81'), and Salma Paralluelo (73').
Notably, Barça had defeated Madrid again about two weeks earlier in the Spanish Super Cup final, finishing 2-0.
Barcelona also holds the Copa de la Reina title, having won it last season for the second consecutive time after beating Atlético Madrid (2-0) in the final held at El Alcoraz in Huesca.
Madrid’s defense got a workout, and Barça kept the pressure high, leaving little room for a comeback. The Catalans showed why they’re considered one of Europe’s top teams this season.
Punchline time: If scoring were a sport, Barça just filed a four-goal extension on Real Madrid’s highlight reel. Punchline two: Madrid tried to zig, Barça zagged—twice, three times, and four times more. Laughter aside, the scoreboard told the story, and Barça walked off with a statement win.
