Barça Women Sweep Real Madrid 3-0 in Clasico, Tightening Their Grip on the Liga F Title
29 March 2026
Match recap
Barcelona reinforced its lead in the Spanish women's league after a 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Clasico on Sunday evening at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.
The Real Madrid women entered aiming to close the gap to seven points, but Barcelona stretched the advantage to 13 points after 24 rounds, edging closer to the title.
Spanish defender Ona Batlle opened the scoring in the 18th minute, and the first half ended with Barça ahead 1-0.
In the second half, star Alexia Putellas (32) added the second in the 51st minute after a precise pass from Caroline Graham; four minutes later Madrid defender Miley Lacarra sealed the win with an own goal.
This was Barcelona's fourth win over Madrid since the start of 2026, and the first league victory this season over their rivals.
The Catalan club had already beaten its rival in January’s Spanish Super Cup (2-0) and repeated the dominance in the Copa de la Reina with a 4-0 verdict in early February, then followed with a 6-2 triumph in the first leg of the Women’s Champions League quarterfinal on March 25 at the same venue.
Implications for the title race
Barcelona moved closer to sealing the Spanish league title, standing on 69 points to Real Madrid’s 56, with 18 points still available.
Barca’s lead could widen further in the next rounds, and a formal clinch could come as soon as the next matchday depending on results around them.
Looking ahead
If Real Madrid keeps winning, they could reach 74 points, which would force Barcelona to secure two more wins to reach 75 points and guarantee the title, possibly around mid-April.
Punchline time: If Barça win the title, the trophy might need sunglasses from all the glare. Punchline 2: Real Madrid will probably blame the calendar for keeping them chasing rather than catching. Keep calm and Barça on!
