Injury Blow Ahead of City Clash

Real Madrid confirmed that Álvaro Carieras will miss the crucial clash with Manchester City after a right-calf muscle injury, monitored by the club's medical staff.

The first leg is scheduled for next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu, with the return leg on March 17 at the Etihad.

In a club statement, Real Madrid said that after medical exams by the club's medical services, Álvaro Carieras sustained a right-calf muscle injury and will be monitored.

AS reports that the current injury list also includes Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham, David Alaba, Dani Ceballos, Éder Militao, Rodrygo Goes, and Álvaro Carieras.

It had been expected Carieras would be available for Sunday's training but he did not participate.

Medical estimates put Carieras out for another week; in the best case scenario he could still join the return in Manchester.

That injury also opens the door for Ferland Mendy to start at left-back against City.
