Brazil Plans World Cup Surprise for Ancelotti
26 January 2026
Contract stability ahead of the World Cup
Samir Zod, president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, hinted that Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil's coach, is open to extending his contract.
World Cup timing and negotiations
Ancelotti took charge of Brazil in May last year after leaving Real Madrid, with his contract running through June 2026.
Zod told Football Italia talks over an extension are underway, with both sides interested and changes being made to keep the collaboration.
He added that extending before the World Cup is crucial, and he believes in mid- and long-term projects and organized work.
He concluded that Ancelotti has proven merit and efficiency in a short time, the ideal choice for Brazil, and the federation wants to continue this work and the federation clearly backs the decision.
Brazil are in Group 3 at the 2026 World Cup alongside Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
Punchline: If extension talks were goals, Ancelotti would already have a hat-trick. Brazil's plan is so smooth the samba filed for a renewal soon.
