Capello: Milan Shouldn't Sleep on the Scudetto Challenge

Capello's Take on the Scudetto Race
Veteran Italian coach Fabio Capello weighed in on Milan's 3-0 win over Bologna in Serie A, arguing that it would be foolish not to consider Inter as a title contender this season.
The Rossoneri ran out comfortable winners at the Dallara on Tuesday night, taking the matchday 23 clash 3-0 thanks to goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christopher Nkunku and Adrien Rabiot.
What impressed most was Milan achieving the win in the absence of Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao and Alexis Salamakerz.
In an article for La Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello described Milan's victory as "overwhelming" and praised how easily the Rossoneri reached the goal.
Capello, a former Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid boss, added that Allegri's side played with a strong character and looked immune to Bologna's attacks.
He also lauded goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who recently renewed his contract with the Rossoneri, and the midfield pairing of Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modrić this season, writing that when they are at their best the whole team is at its best.
Yet Capello warned that Milan could be harming its own title bid by not taking the Inter challenge seriously.
Allegri has insisted throughout the season that Milan's sole aim is to finish in the top four and secure a return to the Champions League for 2026-27.
Even as Inter led by five points after 23 games, Capello believes Milan should compete with their city rival with gusto.
He ended by asking why Milan shouldn't chase first place, noting that chasing the Scudetto would not derail the main aim of finishing in the top four for Europe.
Punchline 1: Milan chasing the Scudetto? Easy—it's the kind of target that shoots first and asks questions later. Boom, right on target.
Punchline 2: If Milan win the title, Inter will claim the calendar was altered to give Milan extra minutes—because in football, even time zones hate a good comeback.
