Comoros Coach Jokes About Saudi Weakness Ahead of Arab Cup Clash
4 December 2025
Pre-match reflections from the Comoros coach
Hamadi Gambai, head coach of Comoros, discussed tomorrow's showdown with Saudi Arabia in the Arab Cup's second round. The tournament runs in Qatar from December 1 to 18, with Saudi topping Oman 2-1 in their opener while Comoros were edged by Morocco 3-1.
What Gambai wants to show
In a briefing, Gambai said he watched their loss to Morocco again with the players, identifying mistakes and vowing to improve. This will be their second meeting with Saudi, and he insisted they must not shrink back but show more intensity and a better display.
When asked about Saudi weaknesses, he laughed and replied: "Weakness? Perhaps, but there are probably strengths too. I won't spell out weaknesses in the press conference, and we will work on them. They are not many."
He added: "What we learned is to stay positive. You saw the second half against Morocco; every match is a different challenge for us, and we will strive to win."
On their chances, Gambai stated: "Whatever the odds, we have no choice but to face a Saudi side with high quality and attacking talent. We respect the opponent, but we will do our job on the pitch."
Punchline 1: If planning were points, Comoros would already be winning this game.
Punchline 2: And if humor scored goals, Gambai would have a hat-trick by halftime.
