Countdown to CAS Verdict: Will Ahly vs Pyramids Decide the Egyptian Title?

Update on the Ahly–Pyramids CAS Case
Media personality Ahmed Shobier has revealed the timing of the Court of Arbitration for Sport's final decision on last season's Egyptian Premier League title dispute between Al Ahly and Pyramids FC. He said on his TV show that CAS will not convene new hearings and will rule on March 5 based on the documents submitted by both clubs.
Both sides are buoyant: Pyramids are optimistic about a favorable ruling, while Al Ahly maintains their papers are solid and ready for the outcome. Pyramids have lodged a complaint regarding the ruling that no three-point deduction would be applied to Al Ahly for withdrawing from the Cairo derby against Zamalek, a decision that also affected Zamalek as the other participant in the match.
Al Ahly did not participate in the derby due to the absence of foreign referees, and the competitions committee punished them with a defeat plus a three-point deduction. The Professional Clubs Association, however, chose not to deduct points and instead treated Zamalek's win as a 3-0 result.
The league standings currently have Al Ahly two points ahead of Pyramids; a CAS win for Ahly would adjust the title to a one-point difference, while a decision against them could preserve the status quo. The case’s resolution is poised to reshape the championship narrative for the season.
Punchline 1: If the verdict comes down to one point, the trophy might need Y equals MX for math majors who forgot their calculators. Punchline 2: In football law, the only thing faster than a decision is a fan refreshing the page for updates — again and again, because hope is cheaper than popcorn.
