Khaled Maghraby, the agent of Mali star Aliou Dieng of Al Ahly, clarified rumors that Valencia were backing away from signing him on a summer free transfer.

Dieng's contract with Al Ahly runs out at the end of the current season, and so far there has been no agreement on a renewal.

Earlier reports suggested Dieng had initial deals with Valencia to join the Spanish club after his contract with Al Ahly ends.

But the Spanish network 'Kooora' claimed that Valencia officials had decisively backed away from signing Dieng, viewed as a strategic option to bolster the pivot position.

Maghraby noted Dieng has not yet undergone a medical with Valencia, contradicting some Egyptian outlets, but a move to the Spanish club next summer remains possible.

He also confirmed renewal talks with Al Ahly are not finished, adding 'we have a strong relationship with the club; the player will play in Egypt for Al Ahly, but European professionalism is our priority at present.'
