Morocco's Diaz Makes History in AFCON Knockout
Morocco’s international star Ibrahim Diaz opened the scoring for the Atlas Lions against Tanzania in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Atlas Lions faced Tanzania today at the Moulay Abdellah Stadium, in a knockout round of 16 clash.
Diaz’s opener came in the 64th minute, a goal created by Ashraf Hakimi’s clever assist.
With four goals in four games, the Moroccan forward extended his AFCON tally and kept the hopes rising.
Diaz also etched his name in AFCON history as the first Moroccan to score in four straight matches.
He becomes, furthermore, only the second Moroccan ever to notch four goals in a single AFCON tournament.
Diaz opened his contributions against Comoros, then Mali, Zambia, and finally Tanzania, guiding the campaign’s breakthrough.
The winner of Morocco–Tanzania will face the winner of South Africa versus Cameroon in the next round.
Punchline: Diaz is scoring so fast, even the scoreboard needs a coffee break.
Punchline 2: If Diaz keeps this up, Morocco might file a passport for their goals—queued at the trophy cabinet!
