Even 240 Goals Won’t Win Their Hearts: Madrid Derby Sparks Mbappé Critique

Mbappé Under Fire After Madrid Derby
Kylian Mbappé, Real Madrid's star, came under sharp criticism from a famed Madrid-based sports journalist after the capital derby against Atlético in La Liga, despite Real Madrid’s 3-2 victory.
Spanish journalist Tomás Roncero, via Cadena SER, compared Mbappé's performance with that of his teammate Vinícius Júnior, praising the Brazilian while casting doubt on the Frenchman, noting that Vinícius is always present in big matches, unlike Mbappé who has recently been out with a knee injury.
Roncero argued that Vinícius managed to turn around earlier criticisms by reclaiming his level and delivering a decisive performance, including the winning goal in the derby, along with his ongoing contributions to the team's results, unlike Mbappé who did not provide the expected impact.
He criticized Mbappé for appearing lacking in motivation in the final minutes, even when the team played with ten men, noting that he did not press Atlético's attacks at any moment in the last stretch of play.
He added that if Mbappé continued like this, even scoring 240 goals, he wouldn't win the hearts of Real Madrid fans.
He also suggested that Mbappé should be shown a video to explain that if he stays on this path, no Madridista will love him even if he scores in every game.
On the other hand, Roncero praised Vinícius's spirit, saying he plays with heart and fights for the team, making him one of the core pillars alongside Federico Valverde.
He closed by praising coach Álvaro Arbeloa for restoring team spirit, helping Real Madrid become more competitive in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Sniper punchline 1: If Mbappé's goals were jokes, they'd be blocked by the crossbar.
Sniper punchline 2: If 240 goals can't win you the crowd, maybe try crowd-sourcing—just kidding, watch Vinícius do the heavy lifting instead.
