FIFA Drops Another Hammer on Zamalek as Club Faces 10th Case
23 January 2026
FIFA imposes new transfer ban on Zamalek
Zamalek received another sanction on Friday, with FIFA suspending the club’s transfer registrations.
FIFA’s move stems from the tenth case issued against the club, according to FIFA's official site.
The tenth case adds to the club’s troubles, linked to outstanding debts to players and former coaches.
Disputes over payments involve coaches and players
Several ex-coaches have obtained rulings from FIFA’s Dispute Resolution Chamber, including Portuguese Jose Gomes and Swiss Christian Gross, as well as Belgian Yannick Ferreira who has filed a formal claim for overdue payments.
Also, a number of former players have brought claims against Zamalek over late payments.
Recent club moves
Zamalek announced the renewal of player Mohamed El-Sayed today for three-and-a-half seasons. The club also released Nasser Maher and agreed to his move to Pyramids FC.
Punchline 1: If patience were a transfer fee, Zamalek would be in profit by now—and with interest added, who knows where the balance sheet ends up?
Punchline 2: When in doubt, blame the paperwork—apparently, the only thing moving quicker than the ball is the calendar in Zamalek's front office.
