Font Accuses Barcelona’s Leader of a Transparency Crisis Ahead of Elections
7 February 2026
Font accuses Laporta of a lack of transparency.
Barça presidential candidate Victor Font expressed confidence in defeating the incumbent president Joan Laporta in the elections set for March 15.
In a press statement, Font explained that if he does not win the election, he will keep fighting for this cause, and that he is convinced they will prevail.
Asked about his relationship with former Barça coach Xavi Hernandez and whether he would ally with him in the race, Font said that Xavi has lived through a tough experience at Barcelona and feels he was badly betrayed by some people at the club.
Regarding his relationship with Laporta, Font said there is no current contact; their last exchange occurred during the Spanish Super Cup match Barca lost to Real Madrid two years ago, when they met in the stands and Font offered support.
Font also criticized the current Barça president, saying that all presidents do some good and some bad, but deceit and a lack of transparency are unacceptable.
The piece also frames Barcelona's ongoing La Liga campaign, including the upcoming clash with Mallorca scheduled for February 7, 2026 at 16:15.
Match recap features Barcelona and Mallorca, illustrating the competitive backdrop of Font's leadership critique.
Punchlines:
If Barcelona's board were a magician, the greatest trick would be turning transparency into an illusion—watch closely, it might vanish before your eyes.
Font's campaign slogan might as well be: vote for clearer books; if not, at least bring a flashlight to the press conference.
