Saudi Pro League Title Hopes
Will Al Ahli reclaim the crown they have chased for ten years?
Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke tipped Al Ahli Jeddah to lift the Saudi Pro League title in the 2025-2026 season, following their convincing win over Neom.
Al Ahli beat Neom 3-0 on Saturday at King Khalid Sports City Stadium in Tabuk, in the 18th round.
Yorke told Al Arabiya's Al-Marma program: 'Al Ahli has good players, including Riyad Mahrez and Franck Kessié.'
He added: 'If Al Ahli is to win the Saudi title, they'll need all players with strong characters, plus a renowned coach who wants a good result (Matthias Jaissle).'
He continued: 'Al Ahli does not only rely on Ivan Tony; they also have goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who denied dangerous shots from Alexandre Lacazette, and these are the names any title-winning side needs in the Saudi league'.
Yorke added: 'Players like Mahrez and Kessie are expected to push the team forward; it was a good night, and Al Ahli moved closer to narrowing the gap with Al Hilal, with the title perhaps to be decided in the late stages of the season'.
He finished: 'They need big-name showings, positive results, and a continued winning run, and I’m sure they can win the league, but every player and the coach must give their best'.
Al Ahli sit second with 40 points, four behind Al Hilal, who have a remaining match against Al Riyadh today.
Punchline: If the title race tightens any more, even the referee might request a calculator just to crunch the chances.
Punchline: In football, when life gives you lemons, you still score—because the crowd only remembers the goals, not the fruit basket in the stands.
