France's World Cup Countdown: Logistics, Delays and a Dream of France's Glory
30 March 2026
World Cup Readiness Under a Cloud of Logistics
France wrapped up its United States training camp with a 3-1 win over Colombia, following a 2-1 victory over Brazil just days earlier. Despite positive results and clear on-field gains, coach Didier Deschamps and his staff entered the current camp facing heightened concerns as the World Cup looms in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
According to Le Parisien, several off-field issues could threaten players’ focus before important fixtures in the tournament.
Logistics and Security in the United States
Unprecedented security checks and long travel legs created doubts about getting everyone to the right place on time, just as the World Cup loomed.
We are told these checks and long journeys are the kind of thing you don't want right before the tournament and that the logistics team was busier than a coffee machine at peak hours.
During their US week, the French were escorted by a motorcycle convoy for their team bus; even then it took more than an hour to travel from their Boston hotel to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, the venue for the France vs Norway group game on June 26.
In Boston and Washington airports, Deschamps encountered security procedures “unlike anything he has seen before” as they navigated checks that slowed training and travel.
The partial federal government shutdown affected airport staffing levels, leaving frustrated travelers as political headlines swirled around budget deals and congressional stalemates.
Even on the eve of the Colombia-France match in Washington, the team arrived late for training due to heavy traffic.
Deschamps said, “We must adapt to these complexities, and recovery will be key because summer heat can be punishing in the United States.”
