Frank’s Fury, Fans, and the Vicario Moment: Spurs Fall to Fulham
30 November 2025
Match Context
Manager Thomas Frank launched a sharp critique of his Tottenham Hotspur supporters who jeered Italian goalkeeper Guillermo Vicario, insisting after the match that "those who do that cannot be real Spurs fans at all".
And Spurs had conceded twice in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, on Saturday, in Round 13 of Premier League, marking the tenth home defeat for Frank's side in 2025 so far.
Key Moments and Aftermath
And the standout moment came on Fulham's second goal, when Vicario lost the ball outside his area, after going out to deal with a ball toward the touchline. Instead of clearing it, he tried to dribble and pass, slipped, and the ball touched Harry Wilson's foot before reaching Joshua King, who fed Wilson and the latter curled a shot from touchline into net from 36.6 metres away.
Minutes later, when the ball reached Vicario again, some Spurs fans launched jeers at him. The entire team also faced whistles at halftime and again after the final whistle as they trailed by two goals.
And the reactions angered Frank clearly, as he told BBC Sport after the match: "I heard some of our fans jeered the keeper after that moment, and that is completely unacceptable to me" tonight.
And he added: "Whoever does this cannot be a Tottenham supporter. Fans are free to vent after the game, no problem there, but during play we must back each other and stand behind the team."
And Kenny Tete opened Fulham's scoring in the fourth minute, and Wilson doubled the lead, while Mohamed Kadus scored to narrow Tottenham's deficit after the break, as Fulham showed improvement tonight.
Reaction and Humor
Punchline 1: If mis-kicking a ball were an Olympic sport, Vicario would win gold by now.
Punchline 2: Spurs fans invented a new stat: distance to goal, measured in metres and patience.
