From Leipzig to the MLS: Werner’s Bold Pivot Sparks a US Soccer Dream

Transfer rumor: Werner near Leipzig exit
German reports suggest a strong likelihood that Timo Werner will depart RB Leipzig in the upcoming winter transfer window, with the San Jose Earthquakes identified as the most serious option to seal the deal.
Werner's Leipzig contract runs until 2026, and the 29-year-old striker wants to depart this winter, with the United States now seen as his likely destination, according to Sky Germany.
Since returning to Leipzig, Werner was briefly loaned to Tottenham Hotspur in England. His Premier League spell, however, failed to live up to expectations, mirroring his current form in the Bundesliga.
It's worth noting Werner moved to Chelsea in 2020 for around €60 million, but he failed to rekindle the scoring touch he showed earlier at Leipzig.
This season Werner has appeared in only two Leipzig games, featuring in wins over Wolfsburg (1-0) and the defeat to Union Berlin (3-1), logging just one minute in each match.
Punchline: If Werner signs for MLS, the league might finally get a striker who can spell “vacation” on his passport.
Punchline: In football as in aviation, timing is everything—here's hoping his return to form lands before the next layover.
