Permanent deal seals Khonous’s Stuttgart chapter
Bilal Khonous has completed a permanent exit from Leicester City to VfB Stuttgart after a loan spell. The move became binding when Stuttgart activated the obligatory purchase clause after the required appearances were reached, paving the way for a long-term stay in Germany. The Moroccan midfielder is expected to slot into the squad under the club’s new head coach Mohamed Wahbi.
Financials, contract, and first steps
The transfer involved an initial fee plus a mandatory €15 million add‑on, bringing the total cost to just under €20 million. Khonous has signed a contract with Stuttgart that runs through the summer of 2030, tying him to the club for the foreseeable future.
After departing on loan last summer, the purchase clause was activated, and the deal was officially confirmed by VfB Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Vollgmueth, who said, "We have fulfilled all conditions now. We are very happy to tie Bilal to Stuttgart permanently."
Khonous’s move marks a turning point in his career, with the 21-year-old hoping to cement a starting role as the team prepares for a busy period in the Bundesliga and European football.
Looking ahead, Stuttgart will monitor his integration as he prepares for two upcoming friendlies in March against Ecuador and Paraguay where the Moroccan squad, under new leadership, will test its squad depth and tactical approach.
In total, the signature adds a notable investment to Stuttgart’s squad, but it also underlines the club’s confidence in Khonous’s potential to contribute at a high level through 2030.
