Galtier breaks silence after the loss
French coach Christophe Galtier, head coach of Neom, explained the reasons behind his criticism of the players following a shocking 3-0 defeat to Al-Ahli Jeddah in Week 18 of the Saudi Pro League.
“I don’t think you know me well enough. In the coming period there will be several changes at the technical level, benching some players and giving opportunities to those who deserve it. There are individual mistakes repeated in every match since I arrived, and I feel frustrated,” he said.
The remarks fueled talk about a possible departure, as results have slumped and Neom sits in ninth place with 21 points in the league table.
During the pre-match press conference ahead of facing Damac, Galtier added: “Before talking about Damac, I want to revisit what happened against Al-Ahli; there were strong reactions to my departure before the end of the game.”
