Hamdallah’s 13-0 Bash: Shabab Make Gulf Championship History After Coach’s Exit
Hamdallah scores six goals as Shabab light up the Gulf Champions League

Record-breaking night as Hamdallah fuels Shabab’s 13-0 rout

Al Shabab, under Moroccan forward Abdell Razak Hamdallah, wrote history in the Gulf Champions League just hours after coach Emmanuel Aljwasil's departure.

Shabab announced on Tuesday the dismissal of Aljwasil and named national coach Abdullah Al-Mutairi to guide the team for the match against Tadamon Hadramaut of Yemen.

Before that game, Shabab had not won in the Gulf Championship, sitting third in Group 2 with four points from four draws and a defeat, three points behind the runner-up Al Nahda.

The Saudi side needed a big win over Tadamon, and a favorable result elsewhere, to reach the semi-finals of the Gulf competition.

Not only did they win big, they registered a historic 13-0 rout over the Yemeni side, scoring more than six goals in a single match.

The match saw Hamdallah shine, scoring six goals and assisting one, at minutes 35, 57, 62, 64, 68, and 89.

Two other players added hat-tricks — the Belgian Yannick Carrasco at minutes 11, 19 and 31, and the English Josh Brauniel at minutes 4, 13 and 43, with Jordanian Ali Azayzeh adding a late goal at 76.

The win earned Shabab a semifinal berth in the Gulf Champions League, as they finished second in Group 2 with seven points, five behind leaders Al Rayyan.

Shabab now awaits the results from Group 1, which includes Zakho (Iraq), Al Ain (UAE), Qadisiyah (Kuwait), and Sitra Al Bajrini.

Zakho lead the group with 10 points, followed by Al Ain with 9 and Qadisiyah with 7; Sitra remains at two.

Punchline 1: If football were math, Hamdallah just solved an equation with six goals and left the rest of the group counting the zeros.

Punchline 2: The defense tried to clap, but the scoreboard already gave a standing ovation from the Gulf to the world.
