Fresh reports reveal Ryan Hamid's fitness status ahead of the Al-Ahli versus Al-Qadisiyah clash in the Roshen Saudi Pro League.
Al-Ahli host the match on Friday at the Al-Enmaa Stadium, as both teams chase a top-four finish in week nine of the season.
According to the Saudi outlet Al-Riyadiya, Hamid will miss the game due to an earlier injury he is still treating through a rehabilitation program.
He suffered the knock in the October clash between Al-Ahli and Najmah, leaving the field on a stretcher and prompting a defensive reshuffle.
The coach has already had to alter formation, with left-back Mohammed Suleiman Bakr moving into center defense alongside Merih Demiral, while Zakaria Housaawi stepped in at left-back.
Since then, Hamid has sat out successive league games against Riyadh and Al-Ittihad, and will miss the ninth-round match versus Al-Qadisiyah.
Yasin Al-Zubidi, 22, is also out for around two weeks due to a knee cleanup operation he had undergone earlier.
The teenager has appeared sparingly this season since returning from loan and has logged 27 appearances across loan spells and with the first team.
The piece also notes that both Hamid and Al-Zubidi are academy graduates who have yet to score or assist in their recent stints.
Straight talk about the stakes
The match offers a chance to climb into the top four, as both teams aim to consolidate their standings after the season's early momentum, including Al-Ahli's run in the Super Cup.
Predicted lineup for Al-Ahli
Edward Mendy in goal; back line: Ali Mogharshi, Merih Demiral, Roger Ibanez, Mohammed Suleiman Bakr; midfield: Valentin Atangana, Enzo Milot, Frank Kisi; attack: Riyad Mahrez, Evan Tonny, Matteo Gonzalves.
Kickoff is scheduled for 18:30 local time on Friday, with pride and a place in the top four on the line.
For fans, this is more than a derby — it’s a test of resilience, depth, and whether injury-time drama can be turned into real momentum.
Punchline time: If Hamid sits out again, perhaps the defense will finally learn to keep a clean sheet — or at least keep it classy. Also: I should probably start a medical notes blog; apparently my jokes have a longer recovery than some injuries.
