Inter's 2-1 Triumph Keeps Perfect Run as Milan's San Siro Redevelopment Moves Forward
5 November 2025
Match night and result
Inter Milan avoided any upset against Kazakh champions Kairat Almaty, winning 2-1 at Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, in the fourth round of the group stage.
Lautaro Martínez opened the scoring just before halftime, while Arad equalized in the 55th minute. Inter then secured the win in the 67th minute thanks to a left‑footed strike from Carlos Augusto.
On-field moments
Inter dominated the early exchanges and created several chances. In the 10th minute a swift spell produced a double chance: a shot saved by the goalkeeper, followed by Lautaro’s follow‑up cleared off the line.
Inter pressed again and had other opportunities before halftime, but the visitors managed to keep the deficit at one goal. After the break, the hosts’ rhythm continued and the hosts’ lead looked safer after Augusto’s decisive strike.
The game remained open with attempts from both sides, yet Inter’s defense held firm in the final moments to seal the 2-1 victory and extend their perfect start to four games in the group.
San Siro redevelopment
In a historic move, Milan and Inter announced a contract to buy the San Siro area, including the Meazza and surrounding zones, paving the way for a joint stadium project in Milan.
The clubs stated that the sale was completed with the Milan city council’s approval in September and that all legal documents were signed today to finalize the agreement. The project will be executed via Stadio San Siro S.p.A., with international banks Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan acting as lead coordinators, alongside the clubs’ banking partners Banco BPM and BPER Banca.
For the new stadium, Foster + Partners and Manica were appointed to design and develop the venue and the surrounding master plan, with the promise that the stadium will meet the highest international standards and become an architectural icon for Milan, complemented by a new excellence center and an upgraded urban space, anchored in innovation, sustainability, and accessibility.
Punchlines: If Milan keeps this pace, the cranes might get faces before the fans do. And hey, if you can dream big enough, even a stadium can file for environmental certification and still throw a great party.
