Inzaghi Blasts Time-Wasting, Demands More Firepower After Al Hilal's Draw
25 January 2026
Italian coach Simone Inzaghi, coach of Al Hilal, voiced frustration with the draw against Al Riyadh in the 18th round of the Roshen Saudi League, deeming the two-point loss a regrettable stumble on his title pursuit forward.
And Inzaghi explained after the match that his side produced a strong first half, created chances, and opened the scoring, but failed to extend the lead with a second goal that would have settled the game. The start of the second half, he said, lacked focus, leading to the equalizer and a renewed, but unfulfilled, push.
And he stressed that this was the first slip after a long winning run, insisting that missed chances do not prove a crisis in attack, which he still called the league's best, while admitting improvements in finishing could help.
And Inzaghi criticized the reduced actual playing time in the second half, arguing that time-wasting hurt the rhythm. He also praised Kanno and Al-Dosari for their efforts, and explained why the formation shifted from three defenders to four after Kaio's involvement, noting the lack of right-back options forced Hassan to step in with a solid display. His team, he added, must stay sharp and finish opportunities.
