Inzaghi Targets the Top Spot
Italian coach Simone Inzaghi has outlined a clear plan for Al Hilal's upcoming AFC Elite group match against Al Shorta, aiming to keep the Saudi club at the summit.
Al Hilal currently leads the group with 12 points, while Al Shorta sits with one point. The fixture promises a test of the home side’s consistency as they strive to extend their advantage.
In a press conference, Inzaghi stressed the importance of securing points and maintaining momentum, noting that the group standings remain tight and every point counts.
Contract Talks and Player Focus
The coach also touched on contract matters, confirming ongoing talks to extend Kalidou Koulibaly's deal and indicating Ruben Neves is close to a renewal. He praised Neves's contributions and leadership in midfield.
Regarding player welfare after a recent substitution, Inzaghi said it’s natural for a player who has performed well to want to stay on, but emphasized that decisions are made for the team's best interests.
Hilal will prepare thoroughly in training and aim for a strong performance on home soil at Kingdom Arena, with the supporters giving a vital boost.
As for the opposition, Al Shorta has shown mixed results in the current AFC Elite edition, which adds extra significance to the clash and the group standings ahead of future fixtures.
In parallel, the club continues to monitor contract talks that could shape the squad’s future, ensuring strategic decisions align with long-term success.
