Joshua Weighs In Under Limit as Jake Paul Fight Nears in Miami

British boxer Anthony Joshua has shown he is sticking to the plan ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with former YouTube star-turned-boxer Jake Paul, scheduled for December 19 in Miami in a six-round bout that has sparked plenty of hype.

Joshua posted a video on his social accounts showing him stepping on the scales at 110.6 kilograms, well under the 111-kilogram upper limit set for the fight. It signals confidence going into the bout this weekend.

In the video, Joshua addressed the doubters: 'Looks like they forgot... I'm used to handling heavy weights and weigh-ins' anyway.

The physical size gap between the fighters has been a major talking point. Joshua's heavyweight career has earned him two world titles, while Jake Paul, 28, has fought most of his bouts at light middleweight previously.

The heaviest weight Paul has measured in his career was 103 kilograms, in his bout against the legend Mike Tyson last year.

By contrast, Joshua usually enters his fights weighing roughly between 108 and 112 kilograms, rarely needing any pre-fight weight cuts, since heavyweight fighters typically do not trim weight before bouts these days.

Joshua's team, led by Eddie Hearn, said Jake Paul's camp pressed for a bigger weight cut, before an agreement set the upper limit at 111 kilograms for this fight.

Both fighters will wear 10-ounce gloves, standard for heavyweight clashes, even though the bout itself will last only six rounds—a departure for a star the size of Joshua, who is used to 10- or 12-round bouts in major championships worldwide.

Despite the big differences in experience and achievements, this showdown remains a massive commercial and spectator test, given the enormous popularity of both and questions over the bout's sporting value.

Punchline: Even the weigh-in looked heavyweight.

Punchline 2: Somebody tell the referee to stop the hype meter.
