Contract talks intensify as Kane's Bayern future takes shape
Bayern Munich has opened formal negotiations for a new contract with England captain Harry Kane, signaling a clear intention to secure his long-term future in Munich.
Kane has 34 goals in 30 appearances this campaign for the Bundesliga leaders, yet persistent talk of a move back to the Premier League persists, with reports citing renewed interest in England's all-time scorer.
The 32-year-old, who joined Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023, faces a termination clause valued at £54 million that could be activated this January before his deal expires next summer.
However, Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl told Sky Germany that the club wants to tie Kane down to a long-term contract, underscoring their confidence in his fit and importance for the project.
Eberl noted that negotiations with Kane are ongoing.
Sky Germany later reported that Bayern are negotiating a deal through 2028 or 2029 and that Kane is eager to extend his stay in Munich.
This comes after months of denying a potential return to England. Kane had previously stated he is happy at Bayern and not focused on a move back to the Premier League.
He emphasized that he enjoys life in Munich, the coaching setup, and the progress with the club, hoping for continued success.
Kane remains the second-highest scorer in Premier League history with 213 goals, trailing Alan Shearer by 47, and speculation continues about whether a return could still be on the horizon to chase the record.
Kane's Bayern numbers and past links to England
Having debuted for Tottenham in April 2014, Kane spent over nine years in North London, during which Manchester City reportedly showed interest under Pep Guardiola.
While Spurs never delivered a trophy for Kane, his Bundesliga triumph with Bayern last season and the German Super Cup in August 2025 add to his growing legacy in Munich.
To date, Kane has registered 119 goals and 30 assists in 126 appearances for the Bavarian club across all competitions.
Punchline 1: If goals paid the mortgage, Kane could own Bayern’s stadium by now.
Punchline 2: If the transfer rumor mill were a currency, Kane would be the only one that appreciates with every match.
