Kimmich's Six-Goal Night: Bayern Dumplings Bergamo with a 6-1 Masterclass
10 March 2026
Match overview
Joshua Kimmich, Bayern Munich midfielder, commented on the 6-1 thrashing of Atalanta in Bergamo during the last-16 first leg, saying it's a night he has never experienced before. The visitors needed a few minutes to settle in, then began to create big chances one after another.
The goals came from Josip Stanisic (12'), Michael Olisseh (22', 64'), Serge Gnabry (25'), Nicolas Jackson (52'), and Jamal Musiala (67'), while Atalanta's only goal was Mario Pasalic (93').
Kimmich added: "Unfortunately we conceded at the end; otherwise the performance would have been even stronger, especially in the first half. It took us about five minutes to settle in before we started creating big chances."
He continued: "The way we played was impressive; we knew we could hurt them. The atmosphere here is fantastic, and you can feel it now."
He also said: "I've never had an experience of winning 6-1 while the away fans are still cheering after the match. It's amazing and says a lot about the strength of the supporters and the atmosphere here."
Note that Bayern now awaits the winner of the Real Madrid vs Manchester City quarterfinal clash. The winner there will face Bayern in the next round.
Punchline 1: Bayern brought a six-pack to Bergamo—and left with a six-pack of concerns for Atalanta's defense.
Punchline 2: If this is what "getting to the quarterfinals" looks like, gravity just filed a complaint with Bayern's attack.
