Kingsley Coman's Injury Update: Al Nassr's Star Faces Recovery Pace Ahead of Key Fixtures

Injury update: Coman’s latest status
Saudi media reported on Tuesday that there is a new development in French international Kingsley Coman’s injury, the Al Nassr forward. The update centers on a muscle issue that surfaced during the team’s 3-1 victory over Neom in the eighth round of the Saudi Pro League, played at King Khalid Sports City Stadium.
The club’s medical staff decided not to order scans, believing that rest alone would be sufficient for a full recovery and a timely return to action.
New development
According to the Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya, Coman underwent a therapy session today, Tuesday, at the club’s headquarters in the capital before going on his break. The report notes that the former Bayern Munich star will have one final therapy session before resuming group training with the squad on Friday, in preparation for competition after the international pause.
The medical team did not grant a resting period in the immediate days prior, preferring to complete the treatment before allowing any extended downtime.
Coman comes to life
Since joining Al Nassr in the summer, the 29-year-old has been a core pillar for coach Jorge Jesus. He has appeared in 14 matches across all competitions this season, scoring four goals and assisting six others.
Coman’s influence has helped Al Nassr lead the Saudi Pro League with a perfect 24-point tally from eight wins, with no draws or defeats to date. They also head Group D in the AFC Champions League 2, collecting 12 points from four wins against Istiklol Dushanbe, Al Zawraa, and Goa FC both home and away.
Warrior’s break
Jesus has granted the squad a five-day break ahead of the post-international period to recharge and regroup. The resting phase is expected to run through Thursday, November 13, with training resuming on Friday.
The team is gearing up for a tough home clash against Al Khaleej on Sunday, November 23, at Al-Awwal Park, in round nine of the Saudi Pro League. Nassr aims for a ninth consecutive win under the Portuguese coach, who previously logged eight straight victories at the start of the 2024-25 season with Al Hilal before a draw against his current side in round nine.
Jesus, aged 71, still holds the record for the most consecutive wins in a single season, having achieved nine with Al Hilal in 2018-2019 before stumbling in round ten. This season, he matched his eighth win pace early on, before the current dip in round nine.
There is a concern that Nassr’s rival, Al Khaleej, could be without Norwegian star Joshua King due to a left hamstring tear found on MRI. King will follow a structured rehab and rehab timeline, extending over several weeks, with return timing tied to recovery pace and response to treatment.
The upcoming match between the teams will be their 13th league meeting, with Nassr holding an 8-1-3 edge in wins-draws-losses from 12 completed fixtures. Nassr will close out the month with a trip to Tajikistan to face Istiklol Dushanbe in the AFC Champions League 2 group stage, round five and before the final rounds.
Why Nassr lead the league
Nawaf bin Said, the president of Al Hilal, offered a candid explanation for Nassr’s league leadership, arguing that scheduling has heavily favored the leaders. In his view, most teams will struggle with fatigue by season’s end, while Nassr will accumulate more points and secure better positions as others tire. He dismissed as chaotic the claim that scheduling should be uniform across Roshen Pro League clubs, insisting clarity is essential.
Currently Al Hilal sits third with 20 points, four behind the leaders Nassr and one behind Al Taawoun in second. Hilal have six wins against Riyadh, Al Akhdoud, Al Ettifaq, Al Ittihad, Al Shabab, and Al Najma, with draws against Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah.
Two punchlines to keep you smiling: If patience is a muscle, Coman’s just completed a full marathon without a cool-down. And note to fantasy managers: if you drafted him for speed, remember his recovery pace might still outrun your next coffee break."
