Lacazette: Benzema Beats Ronaldo; Messi the Greatest Ever
French striker Alexandre Lacazette, now with Neom, has stirred headlines by stating that Karim Benzema, captain of Al-Ittihad, is superior to Cristiano Ronaldo of Al-Nassr.
Lacazette joined Neom this past summer after leaving Olympique Lyon.
In statements to Sports Scoop, he said: "The Saudi league is developing a lot, and if it continues, it will become among the best in the world."
"I knew the Saudi league was powerful, but since I arrived I found it even better than I expected, and moving here will be attractive for stars from European leagues due to the exciting and competitive atmosphere," he added.
Regarding the league's best, Lacazette said: "Benzema, thanks to leading Al-Ittihad to last season's title, is better than Ronaldo."
He added: "Joao Felix is shining this season as well, forming a good partnership with Ronaldo, and I think Messi is the greatest of all time."
Speaking about his chances with the French national team, the former Arsenal forward said: "I don't think so; things have become difficult, and I am not aiming for that at all."
He concluded: "Kylian Mbappe is the best in the world right now, and he could lead France to the World Cup, while Arteta remains the best coach alongside Enrique."
Light humor aside, if headlines could speak, Benzema would probably be delivering the final line of the season—and Ronaldo might need helmet cameras to keep up. And as for the league’s growth, Messi might soon require a passport to collect all the GOAT trophies a table can hold.
