Joan Laporta, a candidate for the presidency of Barcelona, attacked Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Celta Vigo on Friday night in La Liga's 27th round.

The win arrived amid a storm of anger from the home crowd over some refereeing decisions surrounding the decisive goal by Fede Valverde.

The moment of Valverde's goal drew wide protests after the ball crossed the net following a collision with a Celta Vigo defender.

But the origin of the play traces back to a ball recovery by Manuel Ángel of Real Madrid, who threw himself to the ground with both feet in front of referee López, leading to a foul on a Celta Vigo player.

Laporta, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo in Spain, said: "Real Madrid won because of a mistake that would have been called against us in our match."

During an election rally, the former Barca president added: "Madrid enjoyed their usual luck in yesterday's game."

Barcelona still leads La Liga with 64 points, one ahead of Real Madrid, with Barça having one game in hand.
