Lautaro Martinez Responds to Critics as Inter Milan Beat Pisa

Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan captain, fired back at critics who had questioned him after a difficult spell, especially following defeats to Milan and Atletico Madrid.

The Nerazzurri also suffered a painful 0-1 league defeat to Milan and a 1-2 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, before bouncing back with a 2-0 victory at Pisa.

Lautaro's name had dominated Italian headlines in recent days, particularly since his coach Cristian Kivo benched him for those two matches due to a dip in form.

The pressure on Inter had been mounting, and the task against Pisa was far from easy, with the promoted side not having been beaten in six, and having kept four straight away clean sheets.

Pisa held firm until the 69th minute when Lautaro opened the scoring, after a smart through ball from Francesco Esposito, who had come on as a substitute just two minutes earlier.

Moments later, the Argentine added a second by turning Nicolò Barella's cross into the net.

In a DAZN interview, Lautaro said, "I'm used to criticism, I work for myself and for Inter and my family, so I let those outside this group speak as they please."

Asked about his future with the Nerazzurri, he replied, "I hope this continues for a long time; my contract is still valid for many years, and people here love me. The team comes first, Inter must win—we have competed for every title for years."

He added, "People outside can talk, but we must focus on raising Inter Milan's quality to the highest level possible."

And when asked whether he would reward Esposito with a dinner for the decisive assist, he joked, "Sure. My teammates joke I don't cook, but our schedule is packed; when time allows, I'll host a barbecue as usual."

Esposito, the young striker, said, "The team is the most important, so whether I score or assist, the three points for Inter matter most."

Lautaro reiterated that the team remains the priority, as he always emphasizes.

Punchline time: If critics are loud, I just mute the volume with a goal. If Inter keeps winning, I might start charging rent to the critics living in my head.
