Top of the UAE Pro League Remains Unshaken
The seventh round of the ADNOC Pro League on Thursday delivered plenty of drama as Shabab Al Ahli Dubai defeated Sharjah 2-0 at Rashid Stadium in Dubai.
Al Wahda overturned a late deficit to beat Al Nasr 3-2 at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, while Al Ain dominated Ajman with a 3-0 win at Rashid bin Saeed Stadium.
These results keep the league’s leaders in place: Al Ain on 19 points, Al Wahda on 17, and Shabab Al Ahli on 14, with Ajman, Al Nasr and Sharjah further back in the standings.
Meanwhile, Ajman, Al Nasr and Sharjah sit seventh to tenth as the round wraps up, with several fixtures still to come on Friday and Saturday that could shuffle the order.
In the clash between Al Wahda and Al Nasr, a decisive moment arrived when a late penalty was converted, sealing the hosts’ 3-2 victory and keeping the title race tight.
For Al Ain, a pair of strikes in the second half sealed their win; Laba Kodjo converted a spot-kick to double the lead at 60 minutes, and Kaku added a late third in the 81st minute, wrapping up the scoring for the visitors.
Shabab Al Ahli vs Sharjah
Shabab Al Ahli played a disciplined game, controlling the tempo and defending solidly as Sharjah pressed for a breakthrough but found opportunities scarce, ultimately conceding a second-half goal to seal the three points for the hosts.
Al Ain vs Ajman
Ajman pushed forward in the first half, but a sharp Al Ain defense and clinical finishing after the break ensured a comfortable 3-0 win for the home side, keeping the champions’ charge on track.
KOOORA
Standings and the weekend fixtures loom large as the UAE Pro League continues to deliver high-stakes football across venues in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Upcoming fixtures
Friday features Bani Yas vs Dibba and Fujairah vs Al Wasl, with Saturday’s schedule offering a chance for teams to climb the table ahead of the final stretch of the round.
Punchline time: If the league keeps this pace, even the trophy will need a coffee break before the celebrations. Punchline two: In UAE football, the only thing heavier than the ball is the table after these results.
