Hassan Shahat, the former Zamalek standout and long-time coach of the Egyptian national team, underwent a surgical procedure today in a private hospital in Cairo.
Special sources to Kooora detailed that the operation lasted an extended 13 hours and involved an intestinal procedure.
Ahmed Soliman, a board member at Zamalek, reassured fans and Egyptian football followers about the veteran's condition.
Soliman posted on Facebook: 'Praise be to God, the operation is finished; Hassan Shahat will be discharged soon after 13 hours. Please pray for his recovery.'
Hassan Shahat remains one of Egypt's most celebrated figures, both as a player for Zamalek and as a coach who led the national team to three consecutive Africa Cup of Nations titles.
