Lewandowski bets the house on staying at Barca

Current Situation
The Polish star Robert Lewandowski is pressing to stay with Barcelona as his contract nears its end this season.
He has signaled willingness to make concessions to extend his stay at Camp Nou, according to Bild, reported by Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez on El Chiringuito.
What It Could Mean for Barca
Alvarez said the 37-year-old wants to speak with Barcelona's management to confirm his desire to stay, and he is happy in the city with his family.
He is prepared to accept a substantial reduction from his current net salary of about 10 million euros per year, a concession the club reportedly considers in light of its finances.
Barcelona, for its part, is open to proposals and could keep Lewandowski under revised financial and sporting terms, especially given its budget constraints and the need to comply with financial fair play rules.
Lewandowski joined Barcelona in 2022 from Bayern Munich, but he has not been a guaranteed starter under coach Hans Flick, who has lately relied more on Ferran Torres as the central forward.
Torres has 13 goals in 20 appearances this season, while Lewandowski has 8 in 17. Yet last season the veteran striker showed his class with 42 goals in 52 matches across all competitions.
Staying for another year remains possible if both sides reach a mutual, financially viable agreement, balancing Barca's budget with sporting needs.
Punchlines: If Barca signs him, they’ll finally have a top scorer who doesn’t need a separate loan to cover the rent. Also, if he accepts a pay cut, the club can stop claiming the budget is “under construction.”
