Spanish press exploded with a jaw-dropping claim: Saudi Arabia is lining up a spectacular bid to buy Barcelona in the near future.
Spanish journalist François Gallardo reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is preparing to purchase Barcelona for about €10 billion.
The move would aim to save the Catalan club from its financial crisis, as Barça's debts top €2.5 billion.
Gallardo also warned that the only major hurdle is the socios, the club's members who, under Barça's tradition, hold the final say in such thorny matters.
It is noted that Saudi investors already bought Newcastle United in 2021, 100% stake, and had previously pursued Manchester United, though those talks did not reach a successful close.
