MLS Interest Intensifies
New reports reveal fresh maneuvers in the Robert Lewandowski file, Barcelona's striker, signaling a potential departure of the Polish star from the Catalan club.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported that Chicago Fire's sporting director, Greg Berhalter, traveled to Barcelona and held a direct meeting with Lewandowski and his agent, Pini Zahavi, at a hotel in central Barcelona.
The meeting aimed to gauge the player's stance on a possible move to Major League Soccer in 2026, after his Barcelona contract expires on June 30.
BBC had previously noted the MLS club's interest in the Polish striker, but the new report suggests negotiations have progressed further.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Chicago Fire, who finished last season eighth in the Eastern Conference, wants Lewandowski to be the keystone of its ambitious project next season, with a view to contending for the title.
