Transfers Boost for Liverpool’s Backline
Liverpool have officially reached an agreement to sign Jeremy Jacquet, Rennes’ 20-year-old centre-back, who will join the Reds ahead of the 2026-27 season after work permit and international clearances are secured.
Liverpool announced on its official website that the transfer is complete, and that Jacquet will finish the current season in France before joining Anfield on a long-term contract this summer.
Jacquet has five France Under-21 caps and has featured in 18 Ligue 1 matches for Rennes this season.
Overall, the young defender has appeared 31 times for Rennes since his first January 2024 appearance, also gaining additional experience during a loan spell with Clermont Foot.
Internationally, Jacquet helped France reach the final of the Under-19 European Championship in 2024 and was named in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.
Punchline 1: If defense is a fortress, Jacquet just brought the blueprints and a baguette for good measure.
Punchline 2: And if he settles in quickly, even our commentary will finally stop blaming the woodwork for the goals.
