Isak injury hits Liverpool's frontline hard
Liverpool suffered a heavy blow after reports revealed a serious injury diagnosis for Swedish striker Alexander Isak, sustained against Tottenham yesterday in a match that finished 2-1 to the Reds in the Premier League.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Isak is suspected to have a fracture in his left leg, an injury likely to keep him out for several months.
The Sweden international started on the bench, with manager Arne Slot opting for Hugo Ekitike to start instead.

Isak came on at the start of the second half, replacing right-back Conor Bradley. Ten minutes in, Isak found the opener for Liverpool, capitalizing on a mistake by Argentina's Cristian Romero near the box.
However, the former Newcastle United forward hobbled off after a hard challenge from Dutch defender Vincent van de Ven just as he scored.
He could not celebrate the goal, clearly in pain as medical staff tended to him. It soon became clear Isak might be badly hurt, as he lay crying on the turf before being helped to his feet and off the pitch.
Slot then brought on Jeremie Frimpong to replace him. Liverpool have yet to comment officially on the severity, while Isak undergoes further scans and medical checks.
The injury would be a catastrophe for Liverpool, piling further pressure on a depleted frontline, with Cody Gakpo sidelined for an extended spell and Mohamed Salah away with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.
