AFCON Squad Announcement

Six months after leaving Al Ahly, Sami Trabelsi named a 28-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, from December 21 to January 18.

Tunisia will play in Group C alongside Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania.

Ali Maaloul, the left-back from Sfaxien, returns to the squad six months after leaving Al Ahly.

The selection includes:

Goalkeepers: Aymen Dahman, Bashir Ben Said, Noureddine Farhati, Sabri Ben Hassan.

Defenders: Yassine Meriah, Montasser Talbi, Dylan Bronn, Adam Arous, Nader Ghendri, Mohamed Ben Ali, Yan Valeri, Ali Abdi, Morteza Ben Wanis, Ali Maaloul.

Tunisia recently competed in the Arab Cup and exited the group stage after beating Qatar 3-0, drawing with Palestine 2-2 and losing to Syria 0-1.

Coach Trabelsi stressed balance between experience and youth, hoping the squad can adapt quickly to Moroccan venues and the tournament’s tight schedule.

Fans will be watching every kickoff, hoping the defense holds, the midfield creates, and the strikers deliver.

Punchline 1: The defense is so tight, even the ball files a missing-person report.

Punchline 2: The midfield passes so cleanly, the ball takes a taxi to the target.
